Macaroni with cheese and bacon

Macaroni met hesp en kaas in de oven I love to cook, I like to spend hours in the kitchen to cook tasty meals but right now, that doesn't often happen anymore. Time is precious with a baby around. So, for the time being, we limit ourselves to quick meals such as casseroles. And this is absolutely one of my favorites, because everybody loves it.

Ingredients:
- 400 g of macaroni
-12 thin slices of cooked ham
- 200 g of grated cheddar cheese
- 60 g of butter
- 60 g of plain flour
- 1 liter of milk
- Pepper and salt

- Boil the pasta "al dente" in a large amount of salted water, drain and rinse with plenty of cold water.
- Make the sauce while the pasta is cooking.
- Put the butter in a medium saucepan and melt it slowly over a low heat. As soon as it has melted, stir in the flour.
- Bake the roux for a few minutes. It is very important to bake this roux a little or you will end up with a floury-tasting sauce.
- Add 3/4 of the milk while gently stirring.
- Keep stirring and when the roux gets too thick add milk to the sauce.
- Let the sauce gently simmer for about five minutes.
- Season the sauce with peper and salt.
- Add the grated cheddar cheese to the sauce and stir well.
- Then add the slices of ham.
- Add the pasta to the cheese sauce and stir together well until it's thoroughly mixed. Pour the cheesy macaroni into an ovenproof dish. Spread evenly and sprinkle it with the grated cheese.
- Put the dish under the grill for 10 minutes.

  1. Do you want to know a little tip to add some vegies to it? I do this. No one will ever know!

Buy a cauliflower. Cook it all. Puree it with a blender. It will be really sloppy. Freeze in small containers or ziplock bags. Add about 1/2 or 3/4 cup of pureed Cauli to your macaroni. It is just yummy cheese sauce really! Yumm.... It is really nice & the kids eat a little vegie! Yay!
